Te Raurengarenga/Committee of Management

Born and raised on her whānau dairy farm in Taranaki, Liana went on to graduate from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts.  She was a legal practitioner for 14 years with a strong focus on Treaty of Waitangi, Māori land and Māori governance issues.

Liana is the current Pouwhakarae (Chair) of Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa Trust (the entity responsible for managing Te Atiawa’s Treaty Settlement).  She also holds a range of other governance roles with Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings Management Ltd, Toi Foundation, Te Reo o Taranaki Charitable Trust and is a member of the Taranaki-Whanganui Conservation Board.

Liana is proud to be following in the footsteps of her grandfather Ted Tamati who was an inaugural PKW Committee of Management member and served as chairperson of PKW from 1987 to 2000.
